Spring Mills Jr. Cardinals | Home Playoff Weekend

This past weekend, I stopped by the Spring Mills Jr. Cardinals home playoff games — no clients, no assignments, just me, my camera, and the love for the game. Sometimes the best moments come when you’re just out there capturing the energy, passion, and grind that makes youth sports special.

From the first whistle to the last play, the Jr. Cardinals showed heart and teamwork that reminds you why community football is so powerful. I caught a few shots from the sidelines — raw emotion, big plays, and moments these young athletes will never forget.

Spring Mills Freshmen Dominate Musselman in Home Opener — Improve to 3-1

Martinsburg, WV — The Spring Mills Cardinals freshman football team made a statement under the home lights last night, earning a dominant 27–6 victory over the Musselman Applemen. This was the second time Spring Mills has beaten Musselman this season, but this matchup felt different — the Cardinals executed on all cylinders and controlled the game from start to finish.

In their first home game of the season, Spring Mills showcased strong teamwork, energy, and discipline. The offense was sharp, the defense relentless, and the sidelines full of life. Every snap reflected growth and preparation — this team has clearly found its rhythm.

With the win, Spring Mills improves to 3–1 on the season and continues to build momentum heading into the rest of the schedule.

Spring Mills Dominates Washington High 51–7

Friday night under the lights, Spring Mills came ready to make a statement — and they did just that. The Cardinals walked away with a commanding 51–7 victory over Washington High, in a game that was never really close.

What makes the score even more impressive is that the Spring Mills starters actually pitched a shutout. Washington didn’t move the ball or find the end zone until the JV players came in late in the game. From the first snap, the Cardinals’ defense looked locked in — flying to the football, creating pressure, and keeping the Washington quarterback on the move all night.

Things got a little heated before kickoff when a Spring Mills player and a Washington coach exchanged words during pregame warmups. That little back-and-forth seemed to flip a switch for Spring Mills, who clearly took it personally. Moral of the story: coaches, don’t engage in trash talk with an opposing player — you’re only fueling the other team’s fire.

Overall, it was another dominant performance by Spring Mills as they continue to show why they’re one of the toughest teams in the area this season.

Spring Mills Falls to Washington, 2–0

Charles Town, WV — October 2, 2025

The Spring Mills boys’ soccer team traveled to Washington on Thursday evening, but it was the Patriots who controlled the match from start to finish. Washington jumped out to an early 2–0 lead in the first half and never looked back, using a strong defensive effort to hold off the Cardinals.

Despite several pushes from Spring Mills in the second half, Washington’s back line stayed organized and denied every opportunity. The Cardinals fought hard until the final whistle but couldn’t find the back of the net.

With the victory, Washington protected their home field and secured the shutout win, while Spring Mills looks to regroup and bounce back in their next matchup.

The Spring Mills JV football team put on a show this week, earning a dominant 32–6 win over Washington High School. From start to finish, the Cardinals showed why the future is bright for this young and talented group of student-athletes.

The game was filled with big plays on both sides of the ball—explosive runs, strong defensive stops, and highlight-worthy catches that had the crowd on their feet. The energy on the field matched the determination of a team hungry to prove themselves, and Spring Mills delivered in every phase of the game.

What stood out most was not just the scoreboard, but the way the Cardinals played together. Every drive seemed to highlight their growth, confidence, and chemistry as a team. With so many underclassmen stepping up and making an impact, it’s clear that the Cardinals are building a strong foundation for the varsity level in the years ahead.
