Friday night under the lights, Spring Mills came ready to make a statement — and they did just that. The Cardinals walked away with a commanding 51–7 victory over Washington High, in a game that was never really close.
What makes the score even more impressive is that the Spring Mills starters actually pitched a shutout. Washington didn’t move the ball or find the end zone until the JV players came in late in the game. From the first snap, the Cardinals’ defense looked locked in — flying to the football, creating pressure, and keeping the Washington quarterback on the move all night.
Things got a little heated before kickoff when a Spring Mills player and a Washington coach exchanged words during pregame warmups. That little back-and-forth seemed to flip a switch for Spring Mills, who clearly took it personally. Moral of the story: coaches, don’t engage in trash talk with an opposing player — you’re only fueling the other team’s fire.
Overall, it was another dominant performance by Spring Mills as they continue to show why they’re one of the toughest teams in the area this season.
