Martinsburg Advances to WVSSAC Semifinals With a Statement Win

Martinsburg vs. Wheeling Park playoff matchup delivered everything you expect from November football—intensity, big plays, and a championship-level atmosphere. The reigning champions came in focused and never took their foot off the gas, closing out the night with a strong 55–35 victory to secure their spot in the WVSSAC semifinals.

From the opening kickoff, Martinsburg set the tone. The energy on the field and in the stands made every snap feel bigger than the last. Both teams traded punches early, but Martinsburg’s momentum, discipline, and playmaking ability took over as the game went on.

I was on the sidelines capturing the action from start to finish, and this game had no shortage of moments worth freezing in time emotion, effort, and that playoff fire you only get in games like this.

Jefferson Advances to the WVSSAC AAAA Quarterfinals After Controlling Round Two Against George Washington

Last night, I was on the field for the rematch between #4 Jefferson High and #5 George Washington High, a game that carried all the weight of their first matchup—and then some.

Their previous meeting ended in a dramatic 34–33 Jefferson victory, marking Jefferson’s first win of the year after an 0–4 start. That loss was also George Washington’s first of the season. Since then, Jefferson hasn’t looked back. They’ve been rolling, and last night they showed exactly why.

This second meeting wasn’t nearly as tight. Jefferson controlled the game from start to finish and walked away with a 28–21 win, officially punching their ticket to the WVSSAC AAAA Quarterfinals. The score makes the game look closer than it felt—if not for a handful of untimely penalties, Jefferson could’ve put this one away by an even larger margin. Their defense flew around all night, and the offense kept the tempo steady and confident.

With #2 Huntington falling to University, the playoff picture suddenly looks wide open. All eyes today are on Spring Mills vs. #1 Morgantown and Wheeling Park vs. #3 Martinsburg, matchups that could shift the entire bracket landscape heading into the next round.

From the sidelines, I captured the intensity, emotion, and key moments from the #4 Jefferson vs. #5 George Washington showdown. Those images will be available in a full gallery for players, families, and fans looking to relive one of the most important wins of Jefferson’s season.

Playoff Tension, Toughness, and a Statement Win: Spring Mills Defeats Musselman 31–20

Friday night at Cardinal Stadium felt different the moment both teams stepped onto the field. This was the second meeting between Spring Mills and Musselman this season, but the energy didn’t resemble their first matchup—when Spring Mills rolled to a 20–0 victory. This time, you could feel the temperature rise before the opening whistle.

During warmups, Musselman made it clear they weren’t intimidated by their earlier loss, and Spring Mills took offense to the visitors chirping on their home turf. The back-and-forth energy set the stage for exactly what you hope for in November—good ole playoff football.

Once the game kicked off, Musselman showed a level of grit and toughness that hadn’t been on display in the first matchup. They became the first team to put points on the board against Spring Mills since the 2023–24 season, ending the Cardinals’ long shutout streak in this rivalry. They battled for four full quarters, refusing to back down even as Spring Mills made the big plays that ultimately shaped the outcome.

Spring Mills took control when it mattered most, capitalizing on field position, playmaking, and timely execution on both sides of the ball. Their 31–20 win moved them to the second round of the WVSSAC AAAA playoffs, but it also exposed areas they’ll need to tighten up quickly. Next week, they head north to face the top-ranked Morgantown Mohigans—a program with championship expectations and the firepower to match.

If Spring Mills hopes to go 2–0 in this year’s postseason, they’ll need to clean up the mental mistakes, sharpen their defensive discipline, and match Morgantown’s physicality snap for snap. The talent is there. The opportunity is there. Now it’s about execution.

I captured the full emotion, intensity, and atmosphere of this first-round battle—from the pregame tension to the final whistle.

Spring Mills Dominates Hedgesville in Season Finale: 63–0 Shutout Victory By John Johnson | Man Of Blessings Photography

The Spring Mills Cardinals closed out their regular season with a statement win — a commanding 63–0 shutout over Hedgesville High School. From the opening kickoff, it was clear this game was going to be one-sided.

Normally, during warmups, you can hear both teams getting hyped, but this time, Hedgesville was as quiet as a church mouse. On the other sideline, Spring Mills came out fired up — talking, yelling, and making their presence felt before the first whistle even blew. They weren’t just warming up; they were sending a message: all that trash talk from the week is over — now it’s time to play.

And play they did.

The Cardinals dominated in every phase of the game — offense, defense, and special teams. Big plays, strong tackles, and explosive runs had the home crowd on their feet all night. By halftime, the score was already out of reach, and by the fourth quarter, even the freshman players got in on the action, showing that the future of Spring Mills football is in good hands.

This performance wasn’t just a win — it was a statement. A message to everyone that Spring Mills football is building something special.

A Hard-Fought Finale: Spring Mills JV vs. Hedgesville JV

This past Monday marked the final JV football game of the season — a matchup between Spring Mills JV and Hedgesville JV that turned out to be one of the most competitive games of the year.

Spring Mills brought some extra energy to the field, moving a few of their freshman players up for the game, and it showed early. Both teams came out hungry, trading big plays and defensive stops throughout the night. The atmosphere was intense — players giving it their all, coaches locked in, and parents cheering every snap.

In the end, Hedgesville managed to pull off the win, closing out the JV season on a high note. But the effort and heart from both sides made this game one to remember.

I had one booked client for this matchup, but I couldn’t resist capturing a few extra moments for the gallery. From sideline focus to post-play emotion, the game was full of the kind of energy that defines high school football.
